Best food and drinks events in Torrevieja and Orihuela Costa

6 BEST FOOD AND DRINKS EVENTS 

1- “La Cazuelica y el Vino” (The Little Casserole and Wine) is held in February. It normally lasts for 4 days and in its last edition (its 7th year), more than 20 local hotels took part. During the event, participating establishments offered 2 types of cazuelas (a type of casserole) accompanied by a range of good wines. Dishes are priced at a very reasonable €2 and a glass of wine costs just €1.50.

2- March is when “Arroces de Torrevieja” (Rices of Torrevieja) is held, an event offering full set menus with a rice dish as the main course. Prices range between €20 and €35 per person with a drink included, and more than 30 local restaurants normally take part.

3- “Nos Vamos de Tapas” (We’re Going for Tapas). During this event, participating bars and restaurants compete to offer the best tapa in Torrevieja. Each establishment presents 4 tapas dishes and the public decides which is the best. The tapas board costs €10 and consists of 4 dishes, 2 drinks and a dessert. The public can also take part in a draw to win a tasting dinner for two valued at €50.

4- “Croqueteando por Torrevieja” might be the area’s newest event but it is certainly no less important. Local bars and restaurants offer croquetas made with different ingredients accompanied by a drink. This is an excellent opportunity to try a range of different and, in some cases, very original croquetas. Prices tend to be around €3.

5- “Gastrovegabaja” is a top celebration of food and drink in which 13 critically acclaimed chefs create traditional local dishes with a modern, innovative touch. The quality of food on offer is truly exceptional so this event is recommended for those with high expectations. The price for a set menu is around €35 per person and the event is held from October to November in the towns of Torrevieja, Gardamar del Segura, Almoradí, Benejúzar, Dolores, Callosa del Segura, Algorfa, Los Montesinos and Orihuela Costa.

6- Lastly, we have the “Semana de la Cuchara” (The Week of the Spoon). During this event, renowned restaurants like Nautilus, Barlovento and El Tiburón offer a variety of typical local dishes over the course of 7 days. Just like Gastrovegabaja, this is a top-quality event aimed at those foodies seeking exceptional cuisine. Prices range between €16.50 and €30 per person.
